FAREWELL TO WEINER

Bob Turner wins Weiner's House Seat in N.Y.

Considering I wrote two blog posts on Anthony Weiner, one more earnest (Weinergate - The Tale of Two Accountabilities), and the other a lampoon (Weiner Bumper Sticker we may now never never see), it seemed only befitting that cap-off this pathetic tail of a fallen politician with a Farewell to Weiner post.
First, the details. In brief, in a stunning reversal of decades of Democratic control, Republican Bob Turner pulled off an upset victory Tuesday in New York's 9th district to win a special election to fill the seat vacated by disgraced former Rep. Anthony D. Weiner.

Earlier this summer, Mr. Turner was considered a longshot, but with the help of a few heavyweight contributors (Donald Trump, Rudolph Giuliani, and Ed Koch, who all executed timely robo-calls on behalf of the Republican), Turner was able to overcome. He was declared the winner of New York’s 9th Congressional District with 53 percent of the vote compared with Democrat David Weprin’s 47 percent, with about 75 percent of the district’s precincts reporting.
Bob Turner (center), joined by his wife Peggy (right) and family, smiles as he delivers his victory speech during an election night party in New York on Sept. 14, 2011. Turner won a special election to fill the seat vacated by Anthony D. Weiner in New York’s 9th Congressional District.
Turner's victory may also be due in large part to escalating disenchantment with President Obama, whose plummeting polls numbers could not have helped the losing Democrate, Weprin. Mr. Obama had won the 9th district, which includes parts of Brooklyn and Queens, by a whopping 11 percentage points in 2008! But dissatisfaction with the president among the district’s mix of socially conservative Catholics and Jewish voters weighed heavily on Weprin's campaign.

Does Turner's win mean that we've seen the last of Weiner? I wouldn't bet on it. From what we've seen of him in the past, he's a tenacious fellow and will be sticking around for the slightest opportunity to insert himself once again into the political arena.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2 Photos

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2," is the final adventure in the Harry Potter film series. The much-anticipated motion picture event is the second of two full-length parts.

In the epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe. But it is Harry Potter who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he draws closer to the climactic showdown with Lord Voldemort."

It all ends here.

I did not start out as a Harry Potter fan, but gradually became one. My youngest daughter approached the franchise with similar feelings but was much more skeptical than me. Today, she's read every book and most in multiples. In fact, only my eldest daughter and I have not read a single Harry Potter. Regardless, I have come to enjoy the movies and am looking forward to the release of the newest and final film, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2."

Below are several
Harry Potter Photos I 'grabbed' from the recently released movie trailer. I posted these Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows photos primarily for my daughter (as well as to increase exposure to Orange County Photographer Mark Jordan Photography). Then it occurred to me that there just might be other Harry Potter fans floating about who too might appreciate the opportunity to get a static glimpse of the yet to be released photos of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. As you will see, the film promises to be worthy of the hype and anticipation. I, for one, will be attending the midnight opening with my kids.

Since the first posting of these images my blog has received thousands of visits and now that the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is almost here I'm getting reports that my blog is taking longer and longer to load. So sorry - but thanks for hanging in there!

REVIEW: Should you be interested in reading a "REVEW - Lite" I have posted an additional blog with these same images, along with a few words about the excellence of this final chapter in the Harry Potter series. There are no spoilers contained within.

Oh, after months of posting these photographs, my SEO (Search Engine Optimization) expert called to remind me I failed to mention my portrait studio, Mark Jordan Photography, and that I am an Orange County Photographer in Rancho Santa Margarita, where I specialize in family portraits, high school senior portraits and Orange County headshots. Thanks for indulging me!

To see a larger version of any of the Harry Potter Photos and really get a feel for the spectacular scenery, simply give it a single click.

Having not yet seen the film, I am not certain of the exact nature of the photographs. So, if you're anything like me, just enjoy and make use your imagination. I've already created plausible scenarios for each...

Oh, it just struck me, Maddi will have already left for Marine bootcamp at Perris Island! Looks like it'll be just Mason and me to attend the midnight extravaganza. Kari would love to go but her limit is 10:00. When Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 does release in July, I would love to hear your take.

ADDENDUM 7-13-11
Just found a dozen or so new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Photos - Seeing that time is of the essence, I will simply post these Harry Potter Photos but not caption them. Enjoy!

OK, so I had to mention what cute boy Harry was as an infant...
